“Free from illness, a path to wellness, That is the path of Yoga”

Yoga is an ancient physical, mental and spiritual practice that originated in India. The word ‘Yoga’ derives from Sanskrit and means to join or to unite, symbolizing the union of body and consciousness.

The students of Sharada Mandir High school enthusiastically participated with the theme highlighting the fact that yoga can contribute in a holistic way to achieving an equilibrium between mind and body. The approach to health and wellbeing can make a direct and useful contribution to humankind’s quest to achieve sustainable development and move towards lifestyles that are in harmony with nature.

The International Day of Yoga aims to raise awareness worldwide about the benefits of practicing yoga.

Various Yoga Asanas were performed by the students and the benefit of each asanas were narrated with examples and how it enhances vitality, focus, memory and productivity, Stabilizes the body, mind and emotions, strengthens and stabilizes the spine, can relieve back pain, stress, anxiety and tension, chronic ailments and improves overall health, enhances teamwork and communication, Imparts a lasting sense of joy, peace and fulfillment.

The school’s auditorium was truly resembling the symbol of union of mind and body and truly created a healthy environment.
