India attained Independence from the British on 15th August 1947 and since then, Indians have been celebrating 15th August with triumph and glory. The day is celebrated unitedly all over the country with great patriotism.

Sharda Mandir High School celebrated India’s 72nd Independence Day in the school auditorium. The tone was set for the programme with the hoisting the flag done by the chief guest, Mr. Surendrabhai Shah and Mst.Harsh Dodia. This was followed by an excellent rendition of the National Anthem by the band comprising the students of the secondary section.

The students presented a colourful cultural program especially, the little ones who, dressed up as great freedom fighters, gave a short speech regarding their contribution and sacrifice towards making India an Independent Nation. The audience were enthralled by the dance performance and the speeches given by the students. The children also showed their strength and resilience by performing a Human Pyramid. Each performance threw light on the importance of the day and one’s duty towards the country. The freedom is the outcome of the sacrifice of many Indians. We enjoyed it and at the same time recalled the glorious deeds of the martyrs who sacrificed themselves for the freedom.
